Hyperspectral imaging from a drone helps farmers apply pesticides only where needed, reducing pollution of lakes and rivers. Large-scale goniometry reveals the sand and water content of beaches. Lidar is used to understand what’s beneath the rainforest canopy. Multispectral imaging reveals invisible text on ancient documents, removed by man and nature centuries ago. Art & Architecture Walking Tour RIT moved to its current location in 1968 and because of the importance of visual arts to the Institute, two percent of the construction budget was allocated for purchasing art for the campus. Mrs. Vanderbilt Webb, founder of the School for American Crafts was on the design planning committee of the new campus. She was knowledgeable about art and particularly instrumental in identifying and selecting an impressive group of works for the new campus. Some of RIT’s most prominent pieces include large works by world-renowned artists including Josef Albers, Henry Moore, Jose de Rivera, Alistair Bevington and Harry Bertoia. |
