The Color Teachings of Leonardo Da Vinci as they apply to modern Virtual Motion Picture Production Techniques

This talk will review 7 principles of Color as defined in Leonardo Da Vinci's notebooks and show the impact in his painting as well as their relevancy to the technical requirements of virtual motion picture production. The concepts of virtual production shall be described with examples from current productions streaming and in theaters today as well as the contemporary art of Da Vinci's day.

Bio

Tom is Vice President of R&D at Portrait Displays. He is a graduate of RIT, 1975 with an MS in Photographic Science. Tom was awarded a Technical Academy Award in February of 2015 for his work with HP and Dream Works on the development of the HP DreamColor display. Tom has been a founder in three companies and was responsible for bringing them public or selling them. Tom has been awarded 14 US patents for his efforts over the years of 1978 – 2020. His current focus is in the areas of color measurement and control in the Virtual Production Environments.



The Inter-Society Color Council advances the knowledge of color as it relates to art, science, industry and design.
Each of these fields enriches the others, furthering the general objective of color education.
